Kandahar Province also contains more remote and sparsely documented districts — among them Khakrez, Ghorak, Arghistan, Maruf, Shorabak, Reg and Nesh — which are largely desert or hill country with small, scattered populations. Exact district boundaries and even the official count have shifted over the years as new districts have been carved out, so lists compiled at different dates do not always agree.
